What All Corporate Counsel Should Know About Privacy and Data Security in 2020
This presentation will first feature a primer/update on developments in privacy and data security law from leading practitioners in the area. Topics to be addressed include the California Consumer Privacy Act, Nevada’s “Do Not Sell” law, biometric privacy laws, and pending laws to watch.
Then, a panel of lawyers, compliance officers, and technology experts will perform a tabletop exercise as they work through a series of hypothetical data breach incidents. The panel will address how to identify an incident, how to prepare an effective incident response plan, the most effective techniques for engaging incident response vendors, pros/cons of cyber liability insurance, regulatory and litigation risks arising from a data incident, and technology issues every lawyer should understand.
Time will be reserved for Q&A and to allow for group discussion of best practices in privacy and data security risk minimization techniques.
