Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Southern California

Litigation is sometimes unavoidable and necessary but not always welcome. The end of a litigation can be a huge sense of relief, but often it does not end with a court decision and rather proceeds to a settlement agreement. Settlement agreements can save time, stress, and money, but only if the principals of the settling parties are fully on board and the agreements are done right. This presentation will focus on how to prepare the actual settlement agreement by providing tips on defensive strategies, pitfalls to avoid, analytical thinking, common provisions and how to communicate with opposing counsel.  But drafting is not the only consideration—what happens when you have to present the idea of settlement and the agreement to your C-Suite?  Our speakers will also focus on how to better prepare yourself for the discussion: understanding your company’s goals, highlighting the benefits of settling this particular case, and how to give this advice with confidence.  This fun and interactive session will offer 60 minutes of CLE.
