Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC South/Central Texas

Working with, accommodating, and supporting employees who struggle with alcoholism, substance abuse, or mental health issues can be a complex task due to the sensitive nature of the situation and the numerous employment laws that may be implicated.  Addiction and mental health issues can lead to absenteeism, poor performance, on-the-job injuries, or even workplace violence.   This presentation will provide an overview of the applicable (and often complicated) legal issues, as well as offer some practical guidance for addressing addiction and mental health in the workplace.

Feel free to invite individuals from your company who are not attorneys but may benefit from learning more about this subject!

Seating is limited - reserve your spot today by registering below.

Speakers

Laura C. de Leon, Shareholder, Ogletree Deakins, works with employers of all sizes to provide practical and strategic advice in all aspects of employment law.  Lara counsels and trains clients on matters including discipline and termination, leaves of absence, accommodations, harassment, investigations, and wage/hour compliance.  She also has extensive experience successfully defending clients against all types of employment law claims in federal and state courts, in arbitrations, and before administrative agencies.  Lara is Co-chair of Ogletree's Pay Equity Practice Group.  She is licensed to practice law in Texas and California, and is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Labor and Employment Law.
