Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC New Jersey

Businesses currently face a paradox. On the one hand, they must operate internationally in order to maintain the competitiveness and generate the growth their boards and investors expect. And yet, the global political and economic environment is the most volatile and unpredictable in decades.

Our lead-off speaker, David Chmiel, will draw on his experience as both an international affairs advisor to boards and C-Suite executives and a former cross-border lawyer to identify the current and future geopolitical risks of greatest relevance to global businesses. Is there still a political appetite for globalisation? How sustainable is populism and what are its next geographic and policy flashpoints? What impact will strategic competition between China, Russia, the United States and other powers have on the global economic environment? How are governments weaponizing cross-border trade and investment flows to achieve domestic and foreign policy goals?David’s interactive, comprehensive and thought-provoking assessment of the state of the world will arm you with the information you need to better understand the geopolitical challenges confronting business leaders throughout the world. It will set the stage for a day of discussions about the ways to best manage and mitigate these risks while still taking advantage of global opportunities.

Expert panelists support highlight key note speaker DAVID CHIMIEL, Geopolitical expert. Prior to co-founding Global Torchlight, David practiced for ten years as a transactional lawyer in the London and Chicago offices of a leading global law firm. His practice focused on advising Fortune 500 companies on their cross-border acquisitions, divestitures and reorganisations.

David contributes to media in Canada, the UK, and the US on geopolitical developments and speaks frequently on these topics at conferences and seminars. He holds an MA in Intelligence and International Security from the War Studies Department of King's College London, an LL.B (Hons) degree from University College.

Breakfast and lunch will be served. Join us for this extraordinary educational, networking and CLE event. This is a special GLOBAL educational CLE opportunity to learn how you and your firm can operate efficiently and effectively in a GLOBAL WORLD.
