Smart Contracts
Automation and digitalization will be incredibly disruptive forces in many industries. Among the various technologies that will contribute to this disruption are smart contracts. Smart contracts are computer programs that are designed to execute transactions if pre-defined conditions are met. Over the past few years smart contracts have been capturing the imagination (and perhaps paranoia) of the legal profession with their potential to automate legal contracts. This presentation is a high level overview of smart contracts and automation in the legal industry, including a discussion on the evolution of legal technology.

Dan Nossa is a Member of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC’s Houston office. He is a securities and derivatives lawyer with extensive experience advising clients in the energy and financial industries. Dan has advised companies in the blockchain and digital asset space since 2015 and is a 2016 alumnus of Boost VC’s blockchain startup accelerator. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Stanford Law School.

Examples of permitted use of the Recordings include displaying the photographs as thumbnails on a ACC Houston website (e.g., www.acc.com/chapters/houst or acchouston.starchapter.com); utilizing the Recordings on ACC Houston Parties websites or print publications.
In addition, you understand that ACC Houston is not obligated to use the Recordings in any way. You agree that the rights granted herein are irrevocable. You further agree that you have no ownership rights in the Recordings and are due no royalties or other compensation whatsoever related to the Recordings.
By participating in the event, you affirm that you have the full power and authority to grant the rights and releases set forth herein.
