Affie Ambrose, General Counsel of Acumen Solutions, Inc. (left), started her term as the President of ACC National Capital Region at our Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 19. In the year ahead, Affie said, the chapter will focus on the launch of the Leadership Academy, on growing our membership, and on re-energizing our pro bono and community service activities.
The chapter thanked Luise Welby, Senior Associate General Counsel of Freddie Mac (right), for a terrific year as President. Luise noted the association's accomplishments of 2016, highlighting our programming.  We presented 91 programs in 2016, with more than 5,500 attendees participating.  Of special note, of course, was our hosting of a fireside chat between U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Former Solicitor General Theodore B. Olson.
The following slate of officers and directors was elected: Navid Haghighi of XO Communications (President-elect and Board); Jim Villa of Versar, Inc. (Vice President - Programming; Mary Jane Saunders of The Beer Institute, Inc. (Secretary); Heather French of Ares Management LLC (Treasurer); Constantine Athanas of James G. Davis Construction Corporation (Board); Thomas Cluderay of Yellowstone Forever (Board); Evan Farber of The Advisory Board Company (Board); Ramona Mahoney of M&T Realty Capital Corporation (Board); and Andrea Shandell of Gannett Co., Inc. (Board).

Unfortunately, Ben W. Heineman, Jr., was unable to be at yesterday's annual meeting. His flight to D.C. was held on the tarmac at LaGuardia airport for several hours while waiting for the President-elect's flight to leave.  We will reschedule this meeting as soon as possible. Stay tuned for the details - and we hope you can join us.
