Course Modules:

Module 1: The Best Career Strategies for Aspiring Female Executives

In this course, women leaders from the Easterseals, the 11th Juridical Circuit Court of Florida, Olnik Proteomics, and a top-100 law firm share the career advancement lessons that they don’t teach you in law school, but wish they had. Just some of the ground that they will cover includes advice for reframing the pay negotiations process as “negotiating your value.” Plus, you’ll learn how to be on the lookout for those transformational conversations - or that one memorable nugget of advice - that will stay with you throughout your career.

Module 2: From Army Officer to General Counsel to…Musician: A Resilient Leader’s Story

The course title is not a typo. The inspirational instructor of this course has traversed army barracks, the general counsel’s corporate office, and the recording studio – and she has a lifetime of stories that all female leaders must hear. Immerse yourself in this one-of-kind course as Paula Boggs tells her leadership story of continuous and resilient career recreation. Bonus: Enjoy performances by the Paula Boggs Band!

Module 3: How to Stay Relevant (While Working Remotely)

How do you stay impactful in your organization when you don’t feel like showing up on video for every meeting?  How do you know if your opinions will carry as much weight as they did when you regularly stepped inside your office? These and other prescient questions for the new work world are addressed in this course. Legal professionals from Toyota Legal One, Kentucky State University, Mattress Firm, and a top law firm provide answers for avoiding stagnation in an age when it is so very easy to do so. It’s your time to transcend boundaries, so you can enhance your value proposition – all from the comfort of your virtual office. It can be done!

Module 4: Diversifying the Board Room with Women Lawyers Leading the Way!

This course will discuss the changing landscape of the board room, which was previously thought to be out of reach for lawyers - and women - in particular.  Not anymore. Be inspired as you hear from the corporate board leaders at Fannie Mae, PCV Murcor Real Estate Services, the California Water Service Group, the Executive Leadership Council, and a major law firm. They will discuss why the “attorney mindset” is not needed in the board room. You’ll also hear why what you’ve learned professionally is far more valuable than what you learned in law school when addressing issues during a board meeting. In addition, you’ll learn about the skill sets you want to sell in order to obtain a seat at the boardroom table.

Module 5: What it Takes to Transition to an In-house Counsel Role: Strategies from the Trenches

A career transition to an in-house counsel role can be daunting. This course brings together leaders from PayPal, BNY Mellon, and the University of Florida Law School, who will share their hard-earned wisdom for successfully making this critical transition. Hear strategies for managing relationships with clients and colleagues, working with mentors, and leveraging your network- a must have for success in this new role.
