Course Modules:

Lady Justice

Module 1: The World has Changed. Let’s Sort Out the Ethics

The 2020 upheaval we experienced has had profound impacts on in-house practice. In this module, Stuart Teicher, Esq. (the “CLE Performer”) explains the ethical dangers with working from home, the challenges of remote supervision, and new issues with technology. US Model Rules of Professional Conduct covered include 1.1 (Competence), 5.1 & 5.3 (Supervision), 1.4 (Communication), and FAO #2019-4.

Module 2: The New Frontier of Cross-border Remote Work

The COVID-19 pandemic has vividly demonstrated the utility of remote work and accelerated pre-existing trends toward the flexible workplace. Increasingly, the global search for talent and employees’ desires for global travel and experiences are leading employers to try to accommodate remote work in countries where the company otherwise does not operate. This module unpacks these complex and interlocking issues including local employment law/social security, work authorization requirements, tax presence concerns, and benefit and workplace injury coverage, which make cross-border remote work a difficult, although essential, challenge for an employer to manage.

Module 3: When Things Go Sideways – Crisis Management Primer for Corporate Counsel

Most crises happen unexpectedly, with little to no warning. And these days, it’s clear that no one is safe from them. How you prepare and respond, however, will make a big difference in helping lead an organization to a quick resolution or long-term consequences. Developing an effective crisis management policy can be daunting for any company, big or small. As corporate counsel, you must play a critical role in its development to ensure all bases are covered. With this module, you’ll have an opportunity to benchmark key ideas from a premier crisis management expert and chief legal officers who share their best practices in preparing for when a crisis hits.

Module 4: Inside Out, Upside Down Culture Creation or Culture Shift: Changing the Way You Do Work

The reasons people are satisfied with their jobs are different from the reasons they are dissatisfied. You would think they'd be two sides of the same coin, but Hertzberg’s Hygiene Theory says the opposite. The pandemic and working from home have brought this fact to the fore. The reasons for satisfaction tend to center around an individual's contribution or recognition. Dissatisfaction on the other hand focuses more on the environment or conditions created by others. The instructors in this module shine a light on the importance of creating workplace cultures by reducing the factors that create dissatisfaction, namely leadership, relationships, policies and work conditions. By making changes in how you view and address these factors, you can transform your culture to one where people love to work.

Module 5: Digitizing your Business for a Post-COVID World

The events of 2020 forced many businesses to accelerate their digital transformation. As companies prepare to transition into a post-COVID world, it is essential to continue digitizing your business. In this module, you will review the trends towards digital transformation experienced by legal operations in 2020 and discuss how legal departments can be the catalyst across their organization. You’ll also cover essential contracts and documents that drive revenue for your company as well as help transition your business for a post-COVID world such as policies, employee handbooks, as well as supplier and sales agreements that need to be amended and updated.
