T he energy sector in Brazil is one of the most renewable in the world. The total energy sector matrix shows that more than 45 per cent of the energy consumed in the country is based on renewable sources, while a landmark region like Europe is struggling to meet the target of a 20 per cent renewable energy factor in their matrix by 2020. However, the rapid growth of the Brazilian power sector has unveiled some serious environmental challenges.
