Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Australia

Managing data risk and information governance has long been a challenge for organisations – one that often lands on the shoulders of in-house legal. As businesses and governments hasten the quest to become more data-driven, and data breaches continue to increase in frequency and severity, information governance, security, and privacy have become critical components of risk management and business continuity.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • identify and assess the legal and other ramifications of the new post-COVID data risk environment, including increasing regulator scrutiny and shareholder concern;
  • identify common pitfalls in corporate information governance, and how this creates greater compliance risk and exacerbates data breach incidents (with reference to real Australian and international examples);
  • address the compliance risks created by ‘data hoarding’, reduce costs, and enable more effective use of key data assets;
  • inform and manage key internal stakeholders during information governance projects, including senior executives, IT, and the Board.
