A program hosted by:

ACC Europe

Opening Session:
A new understanding of workplace diversity, equity and inclusion (a conversation about how CHRO’s and GC’s can work together for a more diverse workplace)

This session will help organisations move beyond discussions and take action and will examine relations in the workplace that are important to diversity. You will learn strategies organisations' HR officers and General Counsel can champion to improve diversity, equity, acceptance, and open dialogue in their organisations, and how they can work together to amplify results.

Speakers: Mark Maurice-Jones, Nestlé UK & Ireland and Natasha Gill, Swiss Re

Attendees will then be moved into two break out rooms.
Session A and Session B will run concurrently in break out rooms for 45 minutes. Both sessions will then be repeated so that everyone will have the opportunity to attend both.

Session A:Your Role in Eliminating Unconscious Bias inside your Department and Beyond
Session Chair: Shivangi Walke, Thrive with Mentoring

Have you seen anyone excluded, treated differently or disadvantaged because of their race, age, gender, national origin or sexual orientation? Or have you never seen this?

After an upsetting interaction, have you thought to yourself - may be they didn’t mean it that way.  Part of the problem to deal with bias - either towards you or where you are the observer is that in the moment, you're filled with a confusing combination of dislike and fear.  You hate what you just heard and feel disappointment towards the person who said it at the same time, you're scared to make an unnecessary enemy or provoke a confrontation.  Shadowy bias can be even more exhausting than openly expressed bias. Workplace biases are pervasive. And the scary thing is, victims often describe these acts of discrimination as subtle, even unconscious.  So there were times when they questioned others intentions and their own perceptions.  During this session on Identifying and Dealing with bias we will learn an effective Speak Up technique to deal with bias.  With real life examples we will practice how to use the technique - and leave with concrete actions which we can implement.

Session B: How to Start a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programme within your Organisation
Session Chairs: Donna Burns, Quintet Private Banking and Elke Thamm, Bühler

Have you ever felt the desire to bring about change and introduce a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program within your organisation but don’t quite know how to get started?  Join this session to understand how successful D, E &I Programs were implemented in other organisations and how they have grown.  You will be equipped with a toolkit which you can use in your own organisation.  Even if you have a D,E&I Program, please participate and share your ideas so together we can learn and build a stronger platform for years to come.

Elke Thamm, Global Head of Personnel Development, Bühler
