Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Southern California

With all that has happened in the last six months, it is easy to forget that the California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA, went into effect on January 1, 2020.  The Act provided a 6-month grace period for applicable companies to assure compliance.   On June 1, 2020, the Office of the California Attorney General (“AG”) submitted the final CCPA proposed regulations to the California Office of Administrative Law (“OAL”) for approval.  The AG has confirmed that notwithstanding business operational interruptions caused by Covid-19, and the delay in OAL approval of the final proposed regulations, the enforcement date of the CCPA has not changed.  Accordingly, businesses subject to the CCPA must be in compliance with the law as of July 1st.

This presentation will cover (a) which companies are subject to the CCPA; (b) overview of notice requirements; (c) overview of practice requirements ; and (d) consideration of CCPA’s obligations in the employment setting.
