Overview (Program Summary)

Join us as we review 2019's regulatory developments for tax-exempt organizations, flag trends and discuss issues nonprofit in-house counsel should be mindful of in 2020.  Topics will include published IRS/Treasury guidance, aspects of Tax Reform legislation, and significant court decisions from 2019.  We will also discuss current developments in state charity oversight, the TE/GE Fiscal Year Program Letter (formerly known as the IRS Workplan), and the Treasury/IRS Priority Guidance Plan for FY 2019-2020.

As the 2020 election season begins, we will also review the rules applicable to political activity by exempt organizations.
The session will also cover:
*Political contribution prohibitions and limitations;
*Rules relating to partisan and non-partisan political activities;
*Government ethics rules for organization leaders;
*Risks posed by the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

This program is relevant for both 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) organizations.
