Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Western Pennsylvania

The program will briefly describe various stages the legal profession has gone through as it has tried to become more diverse and inclusive — only to find itself today as the least diverse profession. The stage we are in right now is the stage in which a great deal of research has been conducted which enables us to know what works and what doesn’t and why. The program will present the results of some of this research and ends by positing that we are at the cusp of yet another stage that will enable the profession to see real results. However, in some ways, it is the most challenging stage of all: it is time to change. Fruitful areas for change which will benefit all lawyers will be suggested.

Speakers

Susan Yohe, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition

Susan Yohe is the Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition, a coalition of 33 law firms and law departments that have come together to work collaboratively to make the Pittsburgh legal community more diverse and inclusive. She began her career as the first law clerk to District Court Judge Alan Bloch. She then practiced law for 17 years at the firm then known as Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Potter (today Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky) prior to joining Buchanan.
