Program Description:
General counsel face new stringent requirements for managing personal and sensitive data under rapidly expanding data protection regulations like the California Consumer Privacy Act, IL Biometric Information Privacy Act, GDPR, NYDFS, NAIC Model law and more. More states are sure to quickly follow in 2020. Savvy plaintiffs' attorneys are exploiting private rights of action, statutory fines and new theories of liability to supercharge litigation against companies of all types and sizes. GCs must take the lead to ensure effective compliance, mitigate liabilities and protect their companies.
Join us for this timely CLE and learn:
- Overview of Emerging Regulations (20 min)
- The Role of the General Counsel (20 min)
- Four Bet-The-Job Questions GCs must address (20 min)
We encourage members to bring an associate or colleague that may be interested in joining the ACC Mid-America Chapter. The Association of Corporate Counsel offers numerous benefits and resources to in-house counsel including CLE offerings and networking opportunities and we look forward to sharing that information with others in the field.
