Diversity, Inclusion and Innovation: Magnifying Our Impact Through Collaboration

Join us for lunch and a collaborative presentation with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.  Check-in and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m.

The first part of the program is a facilitated, interactive discussion developed by the Continuing Legal Education Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University on issues of racial, ethnic, and gender bias in the legal profession including the impact of implicit bias on diverse team building, and/or persons with differing sexual orientations.

In the second part of the program a panel of law firm representatives and general counsels will discuss how representatives of law firms and legal departments, through hiring and their purchase of legal services, engage their commitment to promote women, lawyers of color, and persons with differing sexual orientations as outside counsel and expand their professional growth and development within law firms.  The panel will review best practices and various approaches law firms and legal departments might use through collaboration and partnerships, joint venturing, co-counseling, and subcontracting.

• Tom Sager, Partner at Ballard Spahr LLP and former General Counsel and Senior Vice President at the DuPont Company
• Anthony E. Gay, Vice President and General Counsel at PECO Energy
• Maria L. H. Lewis, Chief Diversity Officer and Counsel at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP
