Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC Western PennsylvaniaAntitrust continues to be a hot political topic in 2019, with prominent voices calling for more active and creative enforcement of the antitrust laws. This presentation aims to provide insight into whether that call for more enforcement is being answered. We will discuss the state of cartel and merger enforcement two years into the Trump administration. We will also discuss Apple v. Pepper, the Supreme Court’s recent decision opening the door for individuals to challenge Apple’s alleged monopoly in the market for iPhone apps. This decision, which saw the two most recent appointees writing for opposite sides of the Court, raises and addresses fundamental questions about where businesses fit in the supply chain and how the structure of a sales agreement can either open a business to or insulate it from antitrust liability.
This presentation is designed to educate in-house counsel on the major developments and trends in antitrust law that are frequently in the headlines and that will continue to impact businesses of all kinds.
