Help a Harvey Affected Client Today
A year after Hurricane Harvey, many families are still facing a multitude of legal issues. Please consider helping one of these families today in a way only a lawyer can.
1. A 72-year-old man needs your help after Hurricane Harvey caused damaged to his home. He hired a contractor for $180k to complete repairs, but the contractor ultimately caused additional damage to the home and did not complete the work.
2. After living in her home for 40 years, a woman needs help adding her name to the title. Once her name is added to the title, she will be able to receive repair services through Baker Ripley.
3. Upon signing a lease agreement with the landlord on March 15, 2015, the client gave the landlord a $500 security deposit. On September 1, 2017, she received a “Termination Notice Due to Natural Disaster or Catastrophe” letter from her landlord due to Hurricane Harvey. The landlord has not returned any portion of her security deposit. (Case 3)

Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program
Most ACC Houston chapter pro bono activities are in conjunction with clinics supported by the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program. At these clinics, ACC volunteers provide legal advice and conduct intake interviews. HVLP support is available to assist in these interviews and provide translators if needed. Additional opportunities are available and encouraged for ACC members who desire to participate in other HVLP sponsored clinics or to represent clients who are accepted through the clinic intake process. Please visit the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program website for further information.
