The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes SMITH LLC whose presentation will take conference attendees on a 60-minute journey on how to select a lawyer for high-profile civil and criminal cases.  The program will also address general considerations for selecting a lawyer when you’ve been sued.

Speaker John Da Grosa Smith is the Managing Principal of SMITH. Headquartered in Atlanta with a presence in Philadelphia, SMITH is a sophisticated boutique law firm that litigates complex high-profile cases and provides outside general counsel services to corporations and high-net-worth individuals around the country.  SMITH has earned a reputation for rejecting BigLaw through its smart, hard-hitting, and edgy approach, which is like no other in the practice of law.  This year, SMITH celebrates 10 years of litigating high-stakes cases, which have appeared in Bloomberg, U.S. News & World Report, The Legal Intelligencer, Daily Report, Law 360, The Guardian, and numerous other national and international publications.
From prison to freedom, featured guest speaker, Paul F. Jannuzzo, is the Former Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of GLOCK, Inc., the second largest gun manufacturer in the world.  Mr. Jannuzzo himself was prosecuted and successfully defended by John Da Grosa Smith, who was hired just 8 days before jury selection in the white collar criminal RICO prosecution State v. Jannuzzo.  Mr. Jannuzzo and the case itself, unanimously reversed in July 2013, have been covered widely by the media and mentioned in Paul M. Barrett’s New York Times Best Seller “Glock: The Rise of America’s Gun.”

Attendance is limited to ACC members and their invited in-house counsel guests, as well as prospective ACC members.  ACC membership is open to attorneys who practice law as in-house counsel employees of organizations and who do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law.

Thanks to SMITH, the CLE lunch program is complimentary for the first 130 ACC members who register on-line.  Thereafter, the fee for current ACC members is $25, and, in all circumstances, $35 for non-members, including prospective members.  A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.

While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our speakers and hosts who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend.  Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members. If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours notice to ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.
