The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.

Join ACC

Our friends at the Toledo Bar Association have partnered with the Center for Nonprofit Resources to assist nonprofits in Northwest Ohio. The Center for Nonprofit Resources offers professional development, training and technical assistance to area nonprofits. We believe attorneys have a wealth of knowledge and expertise that can provide guidance to nonprofits and have worked with the Center to offer webinars and chats on various legal issues nonprofits face.

How to Get Involved

We would like to engage members of CO-ACC in this project. We are looking for in house counsel who would like to present on a substantive legal topic relevant to nonprofits. In the past, we have covered employment topics such as FMLA, independent contractors, and workers compensation. We also covered board governance issues and COVID specific matters. Below are a couple topics we are interested in exploring that we thought could work well for a COACC member.

  • Intellectual Property Overview for Nonprofits
  • Real Estate Basics (or lease agreement basics/why a nonprofit should have one, etc.)
  • Data Privacy Considerations for Nonprofits

These are just a few ideas. We are open to other topics may want to speak on. The format would be a one hour webinar, moderated by the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Resources, Heather Bradley, and Eric Henricks. We ask the speaker provide about 40 minutes of content, leaving time for an introduction and questions at the end. Usually, the speaker also has a power point, but that isn’t required. Local nonprofit leaders are invited to join us on the webinar to ask questions and once the webinar is recorded, it will be distributed through the Center and the Toledo Bar Association. We see this as a wonderful way to assist area nonprofits and hope CO-ACC members want to get involved!
