In-house Legal National Conference

If 2020 was known as the year where there was no business as usual, 2021 is the year to take the next step into the “new” normal.

Last year we ventured into the unchartered territory of virtual conferencing. This year, our 27th In-house Legal National Conference will see another evolution for our conference, merging the flexibility of 2021 and bringing back the best bits of previous years.

The hybrid event will allow delegates to join from their homes or converge on our nation’s capital. No matter how you attend, you will be able to network, take in practical content and learn about insights and trends gathered by our partners over the past 12 months.
Register now to take advantage of the Advanced Early Bird rate - ends 30 June.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this decision may cause.

For those that had already registered for the event and haven't received an email from the events team please contact

Executive Retreat

Three days to escape and extend
ACC Australia’s exclusive,
executive leadership retreat

After Stephen Scheeler, former Facebook CEO of Australia and New Zealand, delivered a top attendee rated opening keynote address at ACC Australia’s 2019 In-house Legal National Conference, followed by two popularly attended webinars in 2020, we have heard the call from our executive members for – more detail, more critical analysis, more connecting on the big issues top level in-house legal leaders face today and into the future.

So, for one weekend only, ACC Australia is bringing Stephen Scheeler back for a reflective and intensive executive retreat, at Elements of Byron, Byron Bay’s award-winning, luxury beachfront resort. Here we will host an all-inclusive weekend masterclass, tailored specifically for forward thinking executive in-house legal leaders, on The Eight Elements of Disruptive Leadership: vision, humility, curiosity, adaptability, transparency, data dexterity, customer obsession and speed.

Privileged Conversations: Spain Affirms Legal Privilege for In-house Counsel

On July 1, new Spanish bar regulations impacting legal professional privilege will go into effect. The new regulations add flexibility to the practice of law and explicitly equate in-house counsel with lawyers who practice in law firms as employees or partners. This treatment is familiar for lawyers who practice in the United States, where they are accustomed to the same rights and obligations as those who work in law firms.

The role of lawyers in the face of Increasingly Capable Technology – David Field, Chief Legal Counsel at Canon Oceania
While talk of artificial intelligence replacing lawyers is a common topic, it is reasonable to expect technology to make increasingly aggressive inroads into the practice of law over coming decades. No sensible lawyer should be resisting this trend, and in fact the true challenge for lawyers lies in collaboration with technology.
