  • About the Event

    ACC Legal Operations helps legal departments advance their operations by supporting this critical business function through knowledge-sharing, resources, and opportunities to collaborate. Members of this network developed the ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model, and partnered with Consilio and others in the legal ecosystem to develop a collection of tools to help our members progress through the stages of maturity.

    About the Programme

    We are convening a community of in-house leaders across Europe for on-going series of educational programming and virtual roundtables to support advancement of operational sophistication and innovation in legal services.  ACC Legal Operations and Consilio are excited to announce our inaugural in-person Legal Operations event, ‘Accelerate Innovation’ on 15 October 2019 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). This conference leverages the ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model framework to learn through peer discussion and benchmarking about how to accelerate innovation. The one-day event will include educational sessions led by notable industry leaders and peers, as well as a networking reception the evening before.

    Kostas C. Argyropoulos is the Director of Legal Affairs Division of SPACE HELLAS S.A.  He has a wide experience of more than twenty years as an in-house legal counselor in the ICT market both in a national but also in an international level.In the period 2003–2005, he represented the Association of Information Technology and Communications Companies of Greece in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). He graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens (1993) and concluded his post graduate studies at the University of Paris II – Pantheon Assas (1995) and Harvard Law School (1999).

    Dr. Thomas Barothy, Managing Director, is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Group Legal at UBS. His main responsibilities focus on strategy development and implementation, cost management, outside counsel management, risk management and technology innovation & automation. He has worked for UBS for more than 20 years in various roles.

    Lola Conde, Legal COO of Banco Santander, started her career with the bank twenty years ago.  She has served as legal counsel in different areas, such as retail banking business, IT & OP, marketing and communication affairs, e-business, procurement and negotiation, corporate governance and general and financial regulatory affairs.  Since Lola transitioned to her current role three years ago, she has assumed the responsibility of internal and external management, change management, knowledge management, and more.  When Lola is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and teenage children.

    Central Legal Operations Officer, Shell (The Netherlands)

    In 2015, Vince joined shell in Houston in the Litigation Department as the Sourcing Officer before moving to the Netherlands in 2018 to become Central Legal Operations Officer of Shell's Global Operations Department.

    Mr. Cordo has also worked with several top 50 global law firms, building their AFA and LMP value programs, firm wide profitability programs, and Legal Process Outsourcing Services.  He is the author of the book Law Firm Pricing; Strategies, Roles, and Responsibilities and recently published Data & Dialogue: a relationship redefined in 2019.  In 2017, Mr. Cordo lead a legal project that resulted in Shell being the first IOC to win the ACC Value Champion Award.

    Marcus Debes started his career at Heraeus as a student implementing air cargo security guidelines. He continued these as well as further similar tasks in his role as project manager within the freight and customs handling department. Thereafter he moved to Operational Excellence where he was responsible for process optimisation in operational and administrative areas until 2017, when he was internally recruited by the legal department for the same tasks as project management and process optimisation.

    Jon Doyle was appointed as Chief of Staff for Legal in September 2018, reporting directly to the Group General Counsel. He is accountable for assisting Legal in achieving our goals, improving communication and increasing the effectiveness of the function.

    Executive Director, Legal Management and Operations, DPA (Netherlands)

    Max studied Dutch & international law and business administration at the Open University.  Since 1998, he has successfully led legal teams in the public and private sector.  At present, he is General Counsel for DPA Group N.V. and responsible for all corporate, governance and legal matters concerning the group and operating entities.  In his role as Executive Director, he is responsible for consultancy services on legal management and operations. 

    He is a lecturer at - amongst others - the Amsterdam University of Applied Science and the Dutch Association for In-house Counsel.

    Antje is the General Counsel for CSL Behring, a global biotherapeutics leader.  CSL Behring develops and delivers innovative therapies to treat patients with serious and life-threatening medical conditions.  Prior to joining CSL Behring, a Antje was an associate of Baker & McKenzie's San Francisco and Frankfurt offices.  Antje is admitted to the bar in Germany and California. She holds a PhD degree in law from the Philipps University of Marburg, and an LL.M. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

    Narine is an in-house Counsel at Bitfury – a full-service blockchain technology company. She is responsible for Russian business units that mainly focus on software developments. Narine advises all Russia and CIS related businesses on a variety of legal matters, including support of digital and software production.



    Before joining Bitfury, Narine worked at Big 4 company in Business Tax Advisory department for Oil&Gas, and at the global international law firm – Eversheds Sutherland, where she was mostly practicing in international trade and contract law and transfer pricing related matters.

    Thierry Perrouault is General Counsel in charge of Orange group's legal department Legal Operations. He has previously led the legal support of multinational outsourcing contracts and then cloud computing activities, big data, internet of things and cyber defense of Orange Business Services. Orange Legal Operations Department organizes the technological support and digital transformation of the Group Legal Department, the development of its teams, its knowledge management, measures its performance and federates it around a common identity. This technological and digital transformation is intended to serve all 36 countries where the legal department operates and more than 700 employees worldwide.

     

    Miguel Tercero, CaixaBank

    Miguel Tercero is a commercial lawyer with more than 20 years of experience.  He has a Communication Degree by Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Law Degree by Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.  Miguel has served as the Legal Operations Officer for CaixaBank since 2013, with responsibilities in the definition and control of the legal tasks externalized in both subsidiary companies and outside professionals.  Previous responsibilities include contract management, both in the banking and real estate sectors.  

    Miguel has great experience in dealing with complex organizations and taking care of the quality of the legal processes.  In the last ten years, he has been an active participant in the transformation of the Spanish Banking System, in which the number of financial entities has been reduced from more than 70 to the current 11 groups.

     

     

    Leonie Van Gulik

    Senior Legal Operations Manager, PVH Europe (The Netherlands)

    Leonie van Gulik is responsible for ensuring departmental effectiveness and enhancing  operational and organizational aspects of PVH Europe’s legal function. Responsibilities include strategic planning, technology support, vendor and knowledge management. She has an interest in legal innovation, process optimization and project and change management. Leonie started her career as an M&A lawyer at Stibbe in Amsterdam. She earned her master degrees in Business Law at the University of Groningen. She is also a member of the ACC Europe Legal Operations Advisory Board. 

     

     Miguel Viedma

    VP Group Legal, Digital and Business Innovation, and Chief Legal Operations Europe, Capgemini (France)

    Miguel is a dual Spanish and UK qualified lawyer with more than 17 years of international experience working with leading groups at the forefront of technology and digital innovation in different countries and jurisdictions, which have been based in Spain, UK, Switzerland and France. 

    Miguel joined Capgemini in 2019 as a member of the Capgemini Executive Legal Board and Group Legal VP in charge of Digital and Business Innovation worldwide.  Miguel's main role is to develop the digital legal framework and expertise to support the Group's strong ambition in the digital area.  In addition, since 2019, Miguel is also Chief Legal Operations Officer for Europe.

    Before joining Capgemini, he worked for the International Olympic Committee, based in Lusanne, where he was in charge of leading and managing the legal and strategic support of technology projects.  Previous to his position at the IOC, Miguel worked for other international leading technology groups.

  • Registration Details

    This programme is exclusively designed for in-house counsel and legal operations professionals that work in legal departments of small, medium and large organisations.

    Registration Fees

    The registration fee includes courses, written materials and scheduled meals/receptions. It does not include housing, travel, or personal expenses.

    ACC Members

    • Before 16 August 2019: Early Bird Registration Rate €99 (inclusive of tax)
    • As of 17 August 2019: Standard Registration Rate of €199 (inclusive of tax)

    Non-ACC Members

    • Before 16 August 2019: Early Bird rate €449 (inclusive of tax)
    • As of 17 August 2019: Standard rate of €549 (inclusive of tax)   

    The Non-ACC Member rate includes one year of ACC membership, a €350 value   (membership eligibility rules apply). ACC membership and meeting registration will be confirmed pending approval of eligibility.

    NOTE: We do not accept American Express for this program. The Early Bird rate expires on 16 August 2019 at 23:59 CEST.

    Confirmation

    Registrations are not considered confirmed until payment is processed. Please do not consider your registration complete until you have received the confirmation email.

    If you are an ACC member, you will receive an email confirmation after registering for the programme.

    If you are a non-ACC member, after registering for the programme, you will receive acknowledgement of receipt of your registration by email, followed by a registration confirmation after your eligibility has been approved. Please allow 24-48 hours after submission for eligibility approval.

    Cancellation Policy

    Delegates cancelling their registration MUST do so in writing to globalservices@acc.com. Cancellations received before 23:59 CEST on 16 August 2019 will receive a refund of the fees paid, less a €49 administration charge. No refunds will be made after this date.

    Cancellations for registrations processed at the non-ACC Member rate will not be refunded the €350 membership fee included with the registration. Registration cancellations will adhere to the cancellation policy dates above.

    No exceptions can be accommodated.

    Substitute attendees (from the same organization and eligible to attend) are always welcome. Please email your request to globalservices@acc.com

    Special Requirements / Food Restrictions

    • Coming from the highway A5 or A66, please take the exit “Nordwestkreuz Frankfurt”

    • Driving towards direction “Miquelallee” and “Hanau.”

    • Turn right on the second cross road to Eschersheimer Landstrasse towards “Stadtmitte.”

    • Driving straight on that road until you pass the old tower “Eschersheimer Turm” on the right side.
