Top Ten-Editorial Guidelines

The ACC Top Ten is a ten-point list, published monthly on acc.com, that provides summaries and hands-on advice for in-house counsel on current and ongoing hot topics. It is one of our most popular resources, and is highlighted in various monthly communications to our members. The current month's issue is located at acc.com/topten and archived editions can be found on our web site as well as the Top Ten archives page. ACC gears Top Ten towards a web-friendly writing style; each Top Ten list is between 1500-2000 words and is followed by a list of additional resources.

Each Top Ten includes:

  • Content relevant to in-house counsel, such as issues related to outside counsel management, law department metrics, and compliance
  • Author's name and company affiliation
  • Introduction and conclusion
  • Ten point headings and description of each point
  • Additional resources where available

ACC will solicit ideas from ACC members, outside counsel, and other corporate partners for Top Ten topics and also welcomes submission of ideas and suggestions. The cost of providing and sponsoring a Top Ten is $2,000.

If you are interested in writing a Top Ten, please contact Nichole Opkins.

ACC Disclaimer for submissions

ACC accepts Top Ten submissions, however, reserves the right to alter, omit or publish the submission at its sole discretion.

Submissions selected for use by ACC may be edited by ACC staff, in which case this will be done where possible in consultation with the author, to provide feedback and negotiate edits.

After each Top Ten has had its time on the ACC Top Ten webpage, it is converted into a pdf, containing the ACC logo, and stored in the ACC Virtual Library. It is also saved on the ACC Top Ten archives page.
