Calculate Your Carbon Footprint

Sep 23, 2009

As a first step towards reducing your organization's carbon footprint, encourage your organization to determine what that footprint is today.

A carbon footprint represents the total set of greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product.  A carbon footprint is measured by undertaking a GHG emissions assessment.  Once the size of a carbon footprint is known, a strategy can be devised to reduce it.

Many firms offer services to determine an organization's carbon footprint.  Calculate your own carbon footprint for free on the EPA's website.
