Use Energy-Efficient Lighting

May 11, 2009

A quick and easy way to reduce your organization's energy use is to replace existing incandescent lights with energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights (CFL). A single ENERGY STAR-qualified CFL will save approximately $30 over its lifetime, and pay for itself in only six months.  A CFL uses 75 percent less energy and lasts approximately 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb.
In addition, no matter what kind of lights your organization uses, whenever possible, keep lights off during the day, and encourage your employees to turn off the lights when they leave their offices or a conference room.
