Apply for Green Jobs Training Grants

Jul 15, 2009

Training budgets are under stress in these difficult economic times, but your organization may be able to apply for federal government funds to train your employees for green jobs.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), signed into law earlier this year, designates $500 million for projects that prepare workers for careers in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors. The U.S. Department of Labor recently issued a Training and Employment Notice for the ARRA Competitive Grants for Green Jobs Training. The Notice describes initial plans for awarding these green job training funds so that interested organizations can begin to plan for the application process and can strengthen or build partnerships to be successful applicants.  Solicitations for proposals will be published beginning in mid-June 2009, with application closing dates in late summer or early fall.

The Notice is available on the Department of Labor website.
