Encourage Telecommuting

Aug 12, 2009

Your organization should consider allowing workers to telecommute at least one day a week.  Many Fortune 500 and other companies, as well as the federal government, have successfully encouraged telecommuting.

Not only is telecommuting good for office morale, but it also saves energy, as it eliminates commuting.  In fact, telecommuting just one day per week logically reduces a person's commuter-related emissions by approximately 20 percent.  Other positive impacts include increased productivity and decreased real estate and office maintenance costs.

To discuss any labor, employment, and benefits questions, including the implementation of a telecommuting program at your organization, contact Mark Baker of Holland & Knight at mark.baker@hklaw.com, or (703) 720-8088.
