Networking
The most valuable experience you take away from ACCA's Annual Meeting may be the time you spend with your peers. Take advantage of all the networking opportunities we have to offer.
National Committee Business Meetings
Participation in ACCA's National Committees offers an opportunity to benchmark
with peers and recognized industry leaders. We encourage your attendance at any
of the committee business meetings so that you may learn more about the broad
range of activities offered. These meetings also present an opportunity to
participate in planning next year's Annual Meeting. (See onsite schedule for
room assignments.)

National Committees' Networking Lunch
The traditional National Committees' networking lunch will take place on Tuesday,
October 3 from noon-1:00 pm. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more
about ACCA's National Committees. National Committees are open to all interested
members and offer a great way to meet colleagues who share common practice
concerns. Take a seat at any of the reserved tables and talk to peers who can
help you find solutions to persistent problems or link up with existing networks.
The National Committees' networking lunch is informal (no need to RSVP);
reserved tables will be filled on a first-come basis.
FOR GENERAL COUNSEL ONLY- by invitation
This year ACCA will host the third annual CLO Club, a signature event developed
to address the unique practice, management, and networking needs of chief legal
officers. If comments from prior participants accurately indicate value, we
guarantee you'll be pleased: 100 percent of those who attended last year told us
they'll be back for more. A special room and topic will be designated for each
hour that the CLO Club is open to facilitate general counsel peer-to-peer
discussions. Hosted by top leaders of the in-house profession, interactive
discussions will include such topics as meeting CEO expectations, incorporating
technology in department practices, managing your staff and outside counsel
resources, and other senior level issues. Participation is strictly limited to
chief legal officers. Discussion groups will be kept small and therefore are
available only on a first-reserved basis. For more details about this year's
discussion topics and special programs, visit us online at
www.acca.com/education2000/am/cloclub.html. To receive an invitation and
reserve your place in the CLO Club, contact Veta Richardson, vice president and
deputy general counsel: 202/293-4103, ext. 329; richardson@acca.com.
Exclusively for general counsel.
Just for New Members
and First Time Attendees!
New to ACCA? Never been to ACCA's Annual Meeting before? The meeting can be a
bit overwhelming at first, so here's your opportunity to meet other newcomers in
an informal (and fun) session. Attend the new member/first timer orientation on
Monday, October 2, from 7:30-8:30 am. Join your peers for breakfast, hear from
ACCA leaders on how to get the most out of ACCA membership, and make new contacts
with whom you may share the first-time participant's experience. To receive more
information about this event, check the appropriate box on your registration
form. Questions should be directed to Tranita Dyson, membership manager:
202/293-4103, ext. 307; dyson@acca.com.
Corporate Comedy Club
Join us for the Corporate Comedy Club, on Monday, October 2 beginning at 7:30 pm.
Enjoy an evening of martinis, fine food, music, magic and comedy, sponsored by
LEXIS-NEXIS and Martindale-Hubbell. Show time will begin promptly at 8:15 pm in
the Constitution Ballroom. All Annual Meeting participants are invited to
attend.
Volunteer Venue
Hosted by the Leadership Development Institute's advisory board, join a
discussion during lunch on Wednesday, October 2. Interested members can grab a
bite to eat and learn more about becoming an ACCA leader and volunteering their
support for the association. Topics to be addressed include membership
recruitment and retention, succession planning, and recruiting volunteers. This
is an informal event (no need to RSVP); reserved tables will be filled on a
first-come basis.
Member Welcome Center
WMACCA Chapter volunteers will provide information on Chapter activities and
programs. In addition, you can get advice from people who call the nation's
capital home, especially about local sites of interest, restaurants, and
sightseeing activities that should not be missed. They'll be sure to have the
latest listings of events. Don't forget to stop by to sign up for Tuesday
evening's Dutch-treat dinners.
Breakfast Gatherings
On Monday morning, ACCA is offering a variety of informal networking
opportunities for your breakfast hour. Enjoy the full continental breakfast in
the exhibit hall or grab a cup of coffee or tea with your colleagues at one of
the following breakfast gatherings (locations will be posted onsite). No need to
RSVP in advance! Questions? Contact the ACCA staff person listed below.
