Privilege and Privacy When Dealing in an International Context

Webcast CLE is not Available

Jul 21, 2010
2:00 PM ET

Duration: 1 Hour

Presented by ACC's Corporate Compliance & Ethics and Sponsored by Dickstein Shapiro LLP

This webcast will outline issues faced by U.S. companies that have compliance/ethics/regulatory issues with U.S. regulators or U.S. litigation but which require gathering evidence and information abroad such as:

  • Gathering of electronic documents such as emails from foreign employees
  • Interviewing foreign employees, all with the potential participation of U.S. outside and in-house counsel.

The general discussion will highlight how U.S. rules on attorney-client privilege and privacy around documents and employee rights don't necessarily apply abroad and how, as U.S. counsel, do you deal with that.

Speakers:

Elaine Metlin, Partner, Dickstein Shapiro LLP and Co-Chair ABA International Section

Moderator:

Richard Duda, Litigation Counsel, Corn Products International, Inc.
