Making the Case for Your Trip to Boston
Posted Date: May 6, 2009
Want to go to the Annual Meeting but need to convince your boss? We've got two ways to help!
- Talking Points - You may need to make it clear to your boss exactly why it would be good for you to attend. We've put together talking points to help you address the usual concerns. Click here for a printable PDF.
- "Dear Boss" Email - An informal email highlighting the benefits of going to Boston.
Three easy steps:
1. Open an email and enter in your supervisor's email address
2. Copy and paste the following text into your email:
Dear [SUPERVISOR NAME],
I’d like to request permission to attend the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Annual Meeting in Boston in October.
3. Fill in your information in [BRACKETS]
The meeting offers me a great opportunity to take care of my education requirements for the year and I’ll also be able to hear about what’s on the horizon that we’ll need to address or at least be aware of. Also, top legal industry vendors will be there and we may need them going forward.
It takes place October 18-21 in Boston and it only costs $1,400 (not including travel and hotel). (Airfares are relatively affordable right now, I can update you on what I can find.)
By going to this one meeting, I won’t have to go to multiple events throughout the year to get my CLE/CPD credits which would add up to much more time out of the office.
I think I should really go to this. Attending the meeting will be beneficial to our department and company. I would like to register soon in order to start making travel plans early enough to save us money. Please let me know if you would like to discuss anything in further detail.
Thanks.
