WMACCA Highlights

WE'RE NOT JUST LEGAL - WE MEAN BUSINESS

The best GCs are invaluable members of the business team -- able to nimbly navigate between and harmonize the legal and business interests of their organizations.  The panel for this year's General Counsel Forum luncheon will explain the talents and skills it takes to be that GC or a lawyer on that GC's team.  Our panelists:
  • Jim Bramson of LivingSocial
  • Kristin Brown of gategroup
  • Angela Ciccolo of Special Olympics
  • Brian Miller of The AES Corporation
  • Buddy Omohundro of Apex Systems Inc.
Join us on June 13.  For full details and registration, visit http://www.cvent.com/d/zcqq3c

Pro Bono in June

  • Legal Services of Northern Virginia:  WMACCA and AOL will host a pro bono clinic for clients of LSNV on Friday, June 29th.  Volunteers will assist these clients with housing and consumer-law issues.  For those who haven't participated in an LSNV clinic before, training will be provided.  Registration will open next week.
  • Whitman-Walker Health Legal Services Program:  WMACCA is seeking volunteers for WWH's new Name and Gender Change Clinic, a free legal clinic that will be held every other month, where trained attorneys meet one-on-one with clients to provide counseling and assistance with the name and gender change processes, including obtaining court orders, changing drivers licenses, passports, birth certificates, and other identity documents and public records.  The first clinic will be held on Tuesday, June 12.  (Training will be available on Wednesday, June 6.) R2012_Habitat_Our_Crew
Kudos to the five volunteers at our first Habitat project in Richmond, who did the work of a small platoon. They helped rehabilitate a garage for a new project by building scaffolding to remove siding and shingles, and put on a new roof.
R2012Habitat_powertoolsThanks go to Anna King from Markel, Chad Perrine from LandAmerica, Mark Pachucki from Nationwide Insurance, Derek Redmond from Hamilton Beach and Frost Telegadas, WMACCA Regional Coordinator.
