September 16, 2017: Hop on the Bus & Help Your Community!

Meet at 10:00 am at the Redondo Beach Metro Parking Lot, 5301 Marine Avenue, Hawthorne, CA  90278

Return time will be 3 p.m.

We will travel together on the Do Good Bus to our mystery community service project and have a little fun along the way.

Did you know that there are approximately 254,000 men, women and children that experience homelessness in Los Angeles County at some point in the year, and approximately 82,000 are homeless on any given night?

National research shows that domestic violence is one of the main drivers into homelessness for women. When women leave their homes to escape a violent environment, they often have nowhere else to turn. Due to a lack of safe and affordable housing options, these women are often forced to choose between remaining with their abuser or becoming homeless. A high percentage of homeless women have difficulty accessing urgent hygiene services when necessary. For example, only 32% of restrooms in the Skid Row area are deemed to be in service, clean and stocked with supplies. These conditions in turn lead to a public health crisis.

Join us as we join forces with ACC Women In The House (WITH) Committee, ACC Health Law Committee and Bryan Cave to tackle this problem by assembling hygiene kits for the homeless women at a mystery location.   Boxed lunches and supplies needed for the assembly of the hygiene kits will be provided.  Friends and family members (18 and over) are welcome to join us!
