ACC Hiking Club – Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, Sunday, April 22 @ 8:30 a.m.
We will explore the trail system in Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, which lies between Rancho Peñasquitos and Sorrento Hills to the north and Mira Mesa to the south. It stretches approximately seven miles from the I-5/805 merge to just east of Interstate 15. Many different geologic formations and soil types make up the steep slopes, riparian stream corridors, flat mesa tops and grassy hillsides of the Preserve. The varying terrains and soil types, in conjunction with continually flowing water, form more than 14 habitat types and support a diverse collection of flora and fauna. For more info and a trail map, see:
When: Sunday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Where: Meet in the parking area across from the Ranger Office on the eastern end of the Preserve.
Directions: I-15 to Mercy Rd. exit. Go West on Mercy until it ends at Black Mountain Road. Turn right onto Black Mountain Road. The entrance to the parking lot will be on your left.
Hiking length: 6-8 miles. There are five creek crossings (bridges) and we will hike as far down the canyon as the group wants to go.
RSVPs: Please RSVP by 12 noon on Friday, April 20, by sending an email to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive an Outlook calendar invite and reminder. If on the day of the hike you are running late, are lost, cannot make it or decide to come (but did not RSVP), please call or text Rebeca at (858) 412-9309 or Sondra at (760) 644-4919.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on the trail!
ACC Night at the Movies
Please join us for the April ACC movie night. Tom Vazakas is coordinator. To keep things simple, Tom proposes a movie, based largely on reviewer ratings, and a date. Please feel free to suggest a different film or date than the one below. Movies typically will be on a Friday or Saturday evening, start time between 7:00 and 8:00. Theater location will be decided closer to the event, after Tom receives responses.
The film for the March movie night is "Isle of Dogs," a fun film very highly regarded by the critics. The proposed date is Friday, April 20.
Please contact Tom as soon as you can, but by Tuesday, April 17, at email@example.com. Tom's telephone number is (858) 228-7193.
