The mission and purpose of the Employment Labor and Law Committee is to act as a central resource vehicle for all its members with an expertise or interest in labor and employment law matters. The group provides a network for its members to further keep current and consult on the latest case law and legislative and regulatory actions affecting labor and employment law. The quarterly roundtable discussions provide a forum for members to share their respective works, referral sources and information relevant to the practice group's objectives. The Ethics and Compliance Law Committee addresses significant ethics and compliance topics that in-house counsel face, including ethical issues related to Sarbanes Oxley, sentencing guidelines, privacy, records management, antitrust, law department internal controls, international trade and others. The Committee draws on the expertise of its members and outside presenters to provide updates on substantive law and prevailing practice. Each meeting provides committee members an opportunity to discuss best practices and engage in informal benchmarking related to specific ethics and compliance issues.

The International Law Committee of the San Diego Chapter focuses on providing practical advice on legal issues which impact in-house counsel for companies doing business outside the USA.  The group offers quarterly roundtable discussions on international legal and regulatory topics of interest to in-house practitioners. The discussions are generally quite interactive, providing Chapter members the opportunity to ask questions and obtain practical information and insights that enable them to serve their clients more effectively.  Recent programs have included discussions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices ACT (FCPA) and other US laws with international reach; tips on conducting more effective cross- cultural and international negotiations; suggestions on improving standard alternative dispute resolution clauses; and pointers on the legal systems of specific countries and on other practical international business and legal issues handled by in-house counsel.

The Real Estate Committee is focused on issues of concern to in-house counsel, both Real Estate counsel and generalist corporate counsel. The Practice Group hosts quarterly roundtable discussions on a broad range of topics lead by experts in the field relating to real estate issues and real estate companies.  Each program will be designed specifically with the San Diego chapter membership in mind, focusing on the Real Estate legal issues, developments and trends that all in house counsel need to understand.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO A PRACTICE GROUP AND E-GROUP:

To join any of these committees and its eGroup, follow these instructions:

1.  Go to the ACC website at www.acc.com and LOG IN

2.  Click on "My ACC" (in the right hand column, under the search bar).

3.  Select "My Committees" from the menu on the left.

4.  Click on "Edit My Committee Info".  It opens a new window. You need to join a committee first in order to join an eGroup.

5.  Click on "Join a Committee" at the bottom of that window, then click on the committee you want to join.  A new window opens.  Click "Join" and you will be added to the committee.

6.  Log out of your account for about six minutes and log back into "MY ACC". You will find you have been automatically added to that practice committee's eGroup under "My eGroups".

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR eGROUP SUBSCRIPTION PREFERENCES:

1.  Go to the ACC website at www.acc.com and LOG IN.

2.  Click on "MY ACC" (in the right hand column, under the search bar).

3.  Click on "My eGroups" from the menu on the left. Click on "Manage My eGroups".  It opens a new window.  Click "Add/Change Subscription" at the top right of that window to change subscription type.

If you select "Real Time", you will receive individual emails from the listserv.  If you select "Daily Digest", you will receive daily compilations of postings to the listserv.  If you select "PDA", the message will be sent to your PDA whenever it is posted to the eGroup, and you need to log in to the eGroiup online to respond.  If you select "No Emails", you will be able to view postings to the eGroup online, but will not receive emails from it.  The final choice is "Unsubscribe".

Please note that chapter committee membership and eGroups is only open to ACC-SD members.
