Quebec Chapter
Posted: Dec 10, 2008 The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has expanded its reach even further with the founding of the Quebec Chapter, the second Canadian chapter for the association. The Quebec Chapter will offer substantive events, resources and programs to members located in all cities within the province, including Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec City and St. Laurent. ACC’s Ontario Chapter, founded in 2007, serves the needs of more than 250 in-house attorneys who represent 200 corporations in Toronto and its surrounding cities.
“The establishment of the Quebec Chapter is another step towards serving the needs of the in-house community,” explained Frederick J. Krebs, ACC President. “It represents the desire of attorneys to learn and extend themselves to other members of the in-house community, as well as a greater expansion of ACC’s global network of in-house counsel, which now represents nearly 80 countries.”
The new Quebec Chapter will extend ACC’s resources to help save members time, money and effort and will serve Montreal and its surrounding cities. With nearly 90 members representing 100 corporations, such as Bombardier Recreational Products, Canadian National Railway and Industrial Alliance Life Insurance Company, the Quebec Chapter is well on its way to delivering valuable resources to the Canadian in-house counsel community.
Nadia Martel, Senior Legal Counsel of Bombardier Recreational Products, who began her position of President for the Quebec Chapter earlier this month said, “ACC is a world-renowned organization and we are looking forward to providing programs and events specifically created for in-house counsel practicing in Canada. While we share many of the same concerns as our peers in the U.S. and across the globe, working in Canada presents unique challenges.”
Martel is joined by (Vice President) Susan Kucer, Senior Legal Counsel of Nokia Inc.; (Secretary) Marie-Christine Brochu, Senior Legal Counsel of International Air Transport Association (IATA); (Treasurer) Sandra Heller, General Counsel Americas of Kaba Ilco, Inc; (Communications Chair) Jose Leger, Conseiller juridique general-General for Tecsult Inc.; and (Membership Chair) Leila Heller, Senior Legal Counsel for KalusAir Services Inc.
