ACC Ontario is committed to integrating principles of social responsibility in everything we do. We conduct ourselves in a manner that respects the long-term interests of in-house counsel, the legal profession and the broader global environment.

In the short-term, one of our key priorities is to focus on our commitment to our members. Our commitment to members is demonstrated through our commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels, including our commitment to communities as demonstrated through our ongoing focus on pro bono initiatives and strategy.  

For example, ACC Ontario has teamed up with Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO) to provide in-house counsel with opportunities to serve their community through our IN Your Corner program - a turnkey package for Pro Bono participation.  

Also, ACC Ontario co-sponsors the Social Responsibility Award at the Canadian General Counsel Awards, which is designed to recognize the law department with a sustained commitment to making a difference in their community through the promotion of pro bono or diversity initiatives (or both).

We are continuing to demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion by developing and promoting our diversity statement and by implementing a diversity action plan.

Diversity Statement

ACC has a longstanding commitment to and leadership role in promoting and teaming with members to increase the diversity of our profession. We help members identify diversity initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for legal departments to improve their own diversity, and offer resources to help them better advise their companies on diversity-related initiatives.  In addition, we also assist in-house counsel to leverage diversity in their use of law firms and throughout their supplier networks.

ACC Ontario is committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its organizational affairs, such as: governance, policies, operations, programming and services.

To this end,

  1. We will foster diversity in all of our relationships.
  2. We will foster diversity throughout our governance and membership.
  3. We will foster diversity our programming member events.
  4. We will promote mentoring and peer support opportunities which foster and encourage the professional development and growth of our members.
  5. We will ensure that our communications to members reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Our goal is to play a prominent and instrumental role in fostering dialogue, promoting action and disseminating best practices on diversity within the in-house bar in Ontario.
