Purpose

The primary purpose of the Securities Law Committee is to provide a forum for securities lawyers from a broad range of financial institutions to follow and discuss public policy in a rapidly changing regulatory environment, including developments relating to:

  • Capital markets (trading and investment banking);
  • Duties owed by dealers and advisors;
  • Securities products and disclosure obligations;
  • Changes in foreign regulatory environments and their impact on Canadian financial institutions; and
  • Civil claims affecting obligations owed within the capital markets.

Mission

The Committee's mission is to advance the professional development of in-house securities lawyers by sharing information and resources, developing continuing legal educational programs and developing ties to foster communication between corporate counsel practitioners.

Members

Corporate counsel who support financial institutions and other companies involved in capital markets and wealth management businesses.
