New York City Chapter
Community Outreach, Pro-Bono and diversity Committee
Join the Committee
ACC-GNY has re-established its Diversity, Pro Bono and Community Outreach Committee. The Committee's mission is to promote diversity and inclusiveness within the organization, encourage law departments, corporations and law firms to embrace diversity and encourage members to engage in community and pro bono service. The Committee, currently lead by ACC-GNY Board member, Reginald Rasch, is seeking members who have an interest in working on a variety of interesting and rewarding projects designed to foster diversity among in-house lawyers, law firms and vendors and increase member participation in community and pro bono projects. The committee will meet periodically and will be charged with developing innovative programs that further the committee's mission. A small investment of your time will yield huge benefits for you, fellow members and the community. The Committee is focused on several initiatives, including planning our annual community outreach social and a three part town hall series devoted to diversity and inclusion practices of corporate legal departments. There are opportunities to volunteer with our current community outreach partners, Legal Outreach, Lawyers Alliance and Pro Bono Partnership:
Legal Outreach prepares urban youth from underserved communities in New York City to compete at high academic levels by using intensive legal and educational programs as tools for fostering vision, developing skills, enhancing confidence, and facilitating the pursuit of higher education. Lawyers Alliance for New York is the leading provider of business and transactional legal services for nonprofit organizations that are improving the quality of life in New York City neighborhoods. Our network of pro bono lawyers from law firms and corporations and staff of experienced attorneys collaborate to deliver expert corporate, tax, real estate, employment, intellectual property, and other legal services to community organizations. By connecting lawyers, nonprofits, and communities, we help nonprofits to develop affordable housing, stimulate economic development, promote community arts, and operate and advocate for vital programs for children and young people, the elderly, and other low-income New Yorkers.
Pro Bono Partnership provides business and transactional legal services to nonprofit organizations serving the disadvantaged or enhancing the quality of life in neighborhoods in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Substantially leveraging the impact of our in-house legal staff, the Partnership annually recruits and mobilizes hundreds of attorneys from major corporations and law firms to donate their time and expertise on behalf of its nonprofit clients, enhancing their ability to improve conditions in their communities, particularly for the poor and vulnerable.
