Greater New York ChapterIP ManagementIP MANAGEMENT MEMBER PRACTICE GROUPProfessional resources to assist intellectual property ("IP") specialists in the day-to-day aspects of IP practice--for instance, the identification of patentable "inventions", or the nuances of patent and trademark application "prosecution" before the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("U.S.P.T.O") and equivalent international agencies--is very well covered, even for in-house counsel, by other associations; we will gladly refer you to them if needed. What the Greater NY Chapter's IP Group seeks to address are the needs of in-house counsel tasked with managing for their employers practical, business and commercial aspects involving IP. It is intended for an audience ranging from legal generalists with some IP issues within the scope of their practices, to IP specialists themselves whose practices support more generalist areas, such as M&A, business development, or licensing. Topics for the Group can range from tactics for helping your company deal with third party IP threats and litigation in a recessionary environment, to techniques for "monetizing" your company’s IP portfolio against business goals. The Greater NY Chapter is currently developing specific CLE topics with law firm sponsors, and programming will be announced shortly.
