Overview
The Georgia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, UnitedLex Corporation and Seyfarth Shaw LLP will host the First Annual Association of Corporate Counsel, Georgia Chapter, “Hot Seat Law School Tournament” on *Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Maggiano’s Little Italy at Cumberland Mall, Atlanta Georgia.
*Please note: The luncheon and tournament day has been switched from Tuesday to Wednesday for the November program only.
Third-year law students from Georgia-based law schools will advise a mock Board of Directors for a fictional company on a variety of critical legal issues presented to them during several tournament rounds. The contestants will apply law to the facts revealed and provide competent and concise counsel to the mock Board of Directors about the issues they have identified.
All ACC members in attendance will also have an opportunity to score a portion of each contestant's performance by rating their poise, composure, professionalism and legal acumen.
At the conclusion of the tournament, program sponsors will debrief the students and ACC members about the legal issues presented as well as the legal advice given. While the debriefing is being conducted, the scores will be tabulated. Immediately following the debriefing, the winner will be announced and a trophy will be awarded.
Speakers
The mock Board of Directors will include:
· Daniel Reed – United Lex Corporation CEO
· Leslie Solodnz, Esq. – Seyfarth Shaw LLP
· Matt Schwartz – Caucho Technology, Inc.
· Del Winn
