The seven legal practice groups below are all members of the DELVACCA Council of Practice Groups. The Chair of the Council oversees and directs programming, strategic planning and long term goals for the practice groups. The Council Chairmanship is included in the responsibilities of being 1st Vice President of DELVACCA.

The objective of this group is to provide an organized forum to facilitate the identification, review, discussion and analysis of corporate and securities law issues that are of particular interest to in-house counsel in the Delaware Valley. To this end, the group hopes to enhance the professional development of in-house corporate and securities practitioners by sharing information and resources, promoting continuing legal education programs and developing networks for better communication between corporate counsel practitioners.

The mission and purpose of the Employment Labor and Law Group is to act as a central resource vehicle for all its members with an expertise or interest in labor and employment law matters. The group provides a network for its members to further keep current and consult on the latest case law and legislative and regulatory actions affecting labor and employment law. The group provides a forum for members to share their respective works, referral sources and information relevant to the group’s objectives. The group sponsors presenters with relevant expertise, and events, in its effort to gain specific knowledge an insight into relevant employment and labor law topics. The group meets quarterly for a luncheon at its members’ locations within Center City Philadelphia; the meeting includes an expert presenter and discussion of the topics within the meeting’s agenda. This group is active and has an active Listserv (e-mail discussion list) for members to share developing legal topics an for members to respond to employment and labor related queries.

The Ethics and Compliance Law Group addresses significant ethics and compliance topics that in-house counsel face, including ethical issues related to Sarbanes Oxley, sentencing guidelines, privacy, records management, antitrust, law department internal controls, international trade and others. The group draws on the expertise of its members and outside presenters to provide updates on substantive law and prevailing practice. Each meeting has either a formal presentation on a substantive area of interest to group members, or provides group members an opportunity to discuss best practices and engage in informal benchmarking related to specific ethics and compliance issues. This group has an active listserv for members to share ideas and information concerning developing legal topics and to discuss ethics and compliance related concerns.

The Health, Biotech and Pharma Group is comprised of counsel representing these interesting practice areas.  Its purpose is to provide educational programming and encourage dialogue around legal and compliance issues affecting their respective and collaborative operations.  This unique group provides a professional venue for the discerning examination of issues in these rapidly evolving arenas.

The objective of the Contracts and Commercial Law Group is to provide an organized forum to facilitate the identification, review, discussion and analysis of contract and commercial law issues that are of particular interest to in-house counsel.  To this end, the group hopes to enhance the professional development of in-house contracts and commercial law practitioners by sharing information and resources, promoting continuing legal education programs and developing networks for better communications between contract and commercial law practitioners.  The group provides a forum for members to share their respective works, referral sources and information relevant to the group's objectives.  The group meets quarterly for a breakfast or luncheon at its members' or a sponsor's locations.  These meetings have either a formal presentation on a substantive area of interest to group members, or provide group members an opportunity to discuss best practices and engage in informal benchmarking related to specific contract or commercial law issues.  The group sponsors presenters with relevant expertise at a once-yearly Institute.  This group has an active Listserv (e-mail discussion list) for members to share developing legal topics and for members to respond to contract and commercial law related queries.



HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO A PRACTICE GROUP AND AN E-GROUP:

To join any of these Practice Groups and its eGroup, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the ACC website at www.acc.com and LOG IN
  2. Click on "My ACC" (in the right hand column, under the search bar).
  3. Select "My Committees" from the menu on the left.
  4. Click on "Edit My Committee Info".  It opens a new window.  You need to join a Practice Group first in order to join an eGroup.
  5. Click on "Join a Committee" at the bottom of that window, then click on the Practice Group you want to join.  A new window opens.  Click "Join" and you will be added to the Practice Group.
  6. Log out of your account for about six minutes and log back into "MY ACC".

You will find you have been automatically added to that Practice Group's eGroup under "My eGroups".

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR eGROUP SUBSCRIPTION PREFERENCES:

  1. Go to the ACC website at www.acc.com and LOG IN.
  2. Click on "MY ACC" (in the right hand column, under the search bar).
  3. Click on "My eGroups" from the menu on the left.
  4. Click on "Manage My eGroups".  It opens a new window.  Click "Add/Change Subscription" at the top right of that window to change subscription type.

If you select "Real Time", you will receive individual emails from the listserv.  If you select "Daily Digest", you will receive daily compilations of postings to the listserv.  If you select "PDA", the message will be sent to your PDA whenever it is posted to the eGroup, and you need to log in to the eGroup online to respond.  If you select "No Emails", you will be able to view postings to the eGroup online, but will not receive emails from it.  The final choice is "Unsubscribe".

Please note that Practice Group membership and eGroup membership is only open to DELVACCA members.
