Join us as for an interactive discussion of how to minimize litigation risk when hiring from a competitor.  Discussion topics will include possible sources of liability, pre-hire due diligence, complying with restrictive covenants and garden leave clauses, whether to provide legal advice to candidates, how a candidate can be a “good leaver,” how “loose lips can sink ships,” avoiding claims of trade secret misappropriation, assessing the likelihood of litigation associated with a particular hire, responding to “cease and desist” letters, creating your own defensive exhibits, and possible settlement concepts. 
 

Speakers

Zachary Raimi – Director of Legal, Americas for HH Global, a leading independent marketing execution partner to prominent brands in over 40 countries. He is responsible for the company’s legal affairs in the United States, Canada and Latin America.  At HH Global, Zack works closely with senior leadership to help the company achieve its business objectives while managing its legal risk. Zack’s practice covers a wide range of legal issues, including: negotiating and drafting commercial contracts; corporate governance; employment law; litigation and dispute management; and helping the company protect its IP portfolio. Prior to working at HH Global, Zack spent several years as an in house attorney at Allstate Insurance Company. Zack served on the ACC Chicago Chapter’s Board of Directors from 2009 – 2015.

Brian Spang – Member, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., Chicago – Brian is in the Labor & Employment practice. He has nearly 20 years of experience litigating on behalf of Fortune 50 companies, as well as representing, counseling, and advising Fortune 50 and mid- and small-sized employers on all aspects of employment law.

Peter A. Steinmeyer – Member, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., Chicago – Peter is in the Labor & Employment practice and is Co-Chair of the firm’s Employee Mobility and Trade Secrets practice. He is a co-author of the blog, www.tradesecretsnoncompetelaw.com and the author of many articles involving employee mobility-related legal issues. He advises clients in all areas of labor and employment law and litigates all types of employment disputes.
