When Bruce Futterer joined GE’s law department as GC in January 2007, he implemented steps to get a ‘bird’s eye view of the legal traffic’ and services for all of GE Canada. As part of this effort, he went to all the law firms that he knew or suspected were being used to provide services for the company and engaged them in a process to select strategic partner firms with which the law department would create deeper relationships.
