Association’s In-House Community Surpasses 25,000 in Membership

The Association of Corporate Counsel Posts Membership Gains Despite Challenging Economic Times; Expecting 2,400 at Annual Meeting Next Week

Posted: Oct 14, 2009

OCTOBER 14, 2009 (Washington, D.C.) — The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has reached a membership of 25,000 in-house counsel worldwide. This comes at a challenging time for the industry, as many associations are declining in membership or remaining stagnant, and corporate counsel have been impacted by current downsizing.  As ACC closed out the fiscal year end on September 30, 2009, the association noted a membership increase of one percent in the U.S. and eight percent internationally from last year.

“The continued growth results from our efforts to provide value to our members in the U.S. and abroad with useful, practical resources and initiatives to save time and money," explained ACC President Frederick J. Krebs.  “We thank our volunteer leaders and our members for their commitment to ACC.”

Overall membership is not the only increase for ACC.  As it prepares for its 2009 Annual Meeting in Boston next week, the association will welcome a larger crowd than projected, with 1,600 in-house counsel, and nearly 2,400 total attendees, surpassing its 2008 attendance rates.
